After a spectacular winter ski season, summer is finally upon us in beautiful Lake Tahoe! Time to dust off our flip-flops and get out to enjoy longer, warmer days in the Tahoe Basin, and Cedar Glen Lodge is ready to welcome you to our summer season!
Our outdoor heated pool, hot tub and sauna are nice and toasty awaiting you, and don’t forget our beautiful sandy beach right across the street. Make sure to enjoy our putting green, ping-pong, badminton and our very green and spacious picnic area with plenty of tables and grills. We want you to indulge in some summer glamping making new friends over s’mores by our fire pit during the warm summer evenings. Of course you might feel like spoiling yourself and joining us at our Award Winning onsite casual fine-dining restaurant and wine bar, The Rustic Lounge. We feel so lucky to live in such a spectacular place, and hope you can join us to create some lovely summer memories with us by the lake!
In addition to our on-site amenities, there is a plethora of activities in the Tahoe area to partake, as the mountains shed their white winter coats and reveal their ardent green. Ranging from events for the whole family to those for more experienced athletes, there is something for everyone to enjoy this summer. Here are some our favorites:
June 5: Join us for truly one of the most beautiful bike rides you’ll ever experience! Named “America’s Most Beautiful Bike Ride”, this is a bike ride that circumnavigates the lake and really lives up to its name!! Even better, this is a great ride for novice as well as more experienced cyclists.
June 11: The Thunderbird Paddling Festival is a family-friendly SUP race at beautiful Sand Harbor. Races include your choice between an 8 or 4-mile course, as well as close-to-shore courses for the kids.
For the more experienced athletes, three of Tahoe’s most exciting races are taking place in June to get us ready for summer.
June 11-12: First there is the Tough Mudder, a 12-mile mountain obstacle course which is sure to challenge even the most serious athlete! Get ready to get muddy for a fun-filled challenge with Mother Nature herself!
June 18-19: The Broken Arrow Skyrace, which takes place in Squaw Valley, is a truly unforgettable race for the hardcore trail runner. Showcasing the exceptional beauty of Lake Tahoe and surrounding mountains, the three different courses zig zag through rugged terrain and elevation gain. The event is followed by music, food, films and other activities for the whole family to enjoy! This is really a fun day for everyone in the picturesque and world-renowned Squaw Valley.
June 25: The XTERRA Tahoe City Race is a rugged triathlon that takes full advantage of the trails, terrain, and crystal clear waters of Tahoe. This is one of few events that actually calls for a mountain bike for the cycling leg. Taking place on Commons beach in Tahoe City, this race day makes for an exciting, fun-filled day in North Tahoe!
June 20: Also, as a special treat, Myths and Mountains in Incline Village presents “No Shortcuts to the Top,” a special evening with Ed Viesturs, one of America’s top high-altitude mountaineers. He will be sharing some of his adventures in mountaineering and his passion for the sport in this symposium. Ed has summited all of the worlds fourteen 8,000-meter peaks without supplemental oxygen—one of only a few climbers in the world to do so! Should prove to be a fascinating talk! For more information on this event call (800)670-6984.
With so much going on to usher in the summer season, we hope you will join us by the lake at Cedar Glen Lodge!
