Yes, we are thankful! The holidays at Lake Tahoe will kick off with a winter storm, ensuring an excellent base for skiers this holiday season. A winter storm is expected to come in this week. Another storm will be following on its heels over the weekend.

The Season Kicks off with a Storm
The first winter storm is expected to bring 2 to 3 feet of snow at 4,000 foot elevations. At times, snow levels will be moving down to 2,000 feet. At lake level, we are expecting around 20 inches. This storm will be moving out on Friday, while another is expected to come in late on the weekend.
If you are planning to drive up to Lake Tahoe for Thanksgiving, be sure to check weather forecasts. You can find road conditions here. Driving on icy roads will require either four-wheel drive or chains. Be sure to carry water, blankets, boots and a shovel to prepare for any road closures.
As you travel ‘over the river and through the woods,’ please drive slowly and carefully. Once you arrive, you and your guests will be able to enjoy many of the great activities Lake Tahoe offers:
Check out the views on a gondola ride at Squaw Valley.
Opening on November 27th, climb over 2000 feet on this panoramic 10-minute gondola ride. You and your guests will be lifted above the iconic Tram Face, offering stunning mountain vistas and beautiful views of Lake Tahoe. High Camp is located at 8,200 feet above sea level. The Truckee Variety Company is a store with unusual and eclectic gifts. Offering old fashioned candy, toys and collectables, this old timey shop is sure to entertain the entire family. Nearby, you will find many quaint stores with one of a kind Christmas decorations. Old Town Truckee also has candy shops, restaurants and clothing stores. Old Town Truckee retains the feel of the old West and needs to be on the top of your shopping list this holiday season.

The Northstar mountain won’t open until November 29th, but the ice rink will be open in time for Thanksgiving. This charming little ice rink sits in the center of the Village at Northstar. While this kids are ice skating, you can sit around the fire, sip hot chocolate or shop for Christmas gifts.
