Lake Tahoe has recorded a record-setting snow accumulation in 2017 much to the delight of winter sports enthusiasts. Skiing, snowboarding, sledding and simple snow-play has been attracting tourists from all parts of the country to the wintry beauty Lake Tahoe!

For the 36th consecutive year, the North Lake Tahoe SnowFest will be held from March 3 through March 12! Ten days are filled with activities such as parades, parties, concerts and a polar bear swim! Diamond Peak, Homewood, Northstar and Squaw/Alpine actively participate for various on-snow events for people of all ages. Several local restaurants will be offering samplings of their cuisine throughout the festival. Check their daily calendar for a complete list of events and activities
After a 19 year absence, the 2017 Audi FIS Ski World Cup returns to California (Squaw Valley) on March 9-12! Watch Olympic Champions compete on the legendary Red Dog run in events such as Women’s Giant Slalom and Slalom! Two day and 1 day tickets are still available but act fast as they are selling quickly!
As part of their ongoing 50th anniversary celebration, Diamond Peak will host the Historic Ski Film Series on March 1 and 15! Presentations on the history of skiing in Lake Tahoe, a retro-themed costume contest and retro ski films are all part of the evening festivities. Warren Miller’s “Off the Grid” and Craig Beck’s “Daydreamers” will be the featured films.
If you missed the full moon snowshoe tour in January and February, you still have chance to experience this adventure in March. The Tahoe Adventure Company is offering guided tours on March 11 and 12! Enjoy a wintry adventure through Tahoe’s pristine forest!
The month ends with a huge party that carries into April. Winter Wondergrass Tahoe is a three day festival that begins on March 31. Regional and local bluegrass and acoustic roots music are all part of the venue. On the menu is local food, craft beers and fine wines. Take a break from the slopes to listen to music, dance and support the arts!
