So Much to Love this Month!

We find ourselves in the middle of winter in beautiful North Lake Tahoe. The snow-pack has been record breaking this year! All winter sports are at their peak, the skiing is phenomenal, and everything is romantically blue and white at the lake. February is a great month to get away with someone special and enjoy Tahoe in all its glory and natural beauty.  It’s the perfect time of year to play in the snow by day and cozy up in one of our cabins next to the fireplace by night!

Cedar Glen Lodge offers you numerous amenities  such as Bain Ultra Thermo-Massuer bathtubs in some of our suites and cabins. For those who chose a romantic getaway, our Romance Suite has an oversized Thermo-Masseur Bathtub  that is perfect for two!  Your stay at Cedar Glen Lodge also includes Wi-Fi, continental breakfast and s’mores (weather permitting) at our outdoor fire-pit. Sleigh Rides: Most people have experienced Sand Harbor in the summer, but it is absolutely breathtaking in the winter, especially by horse-drawn sleigh. If you’re planning on popping the question to your partner, this is where you want to do it! Just look at the pictures on the website and you will see why this is becoming one of the most popular activities on the North Shore.

Tahoe Adventure Company offers guided snowshoe tours and if you missed the full moon snowshoe adventure in January, another one is scheduled for February 10.

Alpenglow Mountain Festival, February 21-March 1st: Feeling adventurous? Looking for a total outdoors experience with your loved one? The Alpenglow Mountain Festival offers ten days of events, clinics, and film to celebrate and educate on all of the activities we love to enjoy in the mountains. Yoga classes, back-country ski and split board tours, fat-bike racing, full-moon snowshoeing, waxing clinics, avalanche courses, and adventure movies are just some of the things you can enjoy at this winter festival. The beautiful array of autumn hues has been replaced with a white blanket and a majestic wintry landscape. The panoramic view from Cedar Glen Lodge allows for spectacular vistas of snow-capped mountains gently kissed by billowing clouds above the azure waters of Lake Tahoe!

After a long day of snow play, there is no better way to unwind than to spend time in one of our cozy cabins or in our holiday-themed wine bar in front of our stone fireplace! Weather permitting, we light our outdoor fire-pit and provide all the fixings for S’mores which promotes a convivial atmosphere to interact with guests from around the globe.

Cedar Glen Lodge offers you a plethora of amenities!  Many of our beautifully renovated rooms and cabins boast Bain-Ultra Thermo Masseur tubs. The jets provide a rejuvenating experience that will relax tired muscles after a long day on the slopes. The Jacuzzi and sauna are also available throughout the winter months!

Whatever your desires may be, we will be happy to provide suggestions to make your Cedar Glen Lodge stay memorable! Some of our favorite activities include:

North Tahoe Regional Park: (1.5 miles) Located directly behind Cedar Glen Lodge, this family-oriented park offers snowshoeing, snowmobiling, sledding and much more! They also feature dog-friendly hiking trials.

Squaw Valley (15 miles) Some people can only ski Squaw and it’s easy to see why. It has some of the most challenging runs in North America. After purchasing Alpine Meadows a few years back, the duo of resorts boasts more terrain on a single lift ticket than any other resort in the area. The village at Squaw Valley is huge and is home to many restaurants, retail stores and more. Prices are high and it gets very crowded, but it is a unique skiing experience.

Northstar (7.7 mile) This resort is great for families who want a little more room. The terrain is mostly beginner-intermediate with some advanced runs. The village at Northstar is very festive during the Holidays. It offers many great retail stores, restaurants, wine bar and an ice skating rink surrounded with couches and fire pits. Tickets are on the pricier side of the spectrum, but very well-worth it.

Mount Rose (16.8 mile) Mount Rose is a great option for the more experienced skiers and snowboarders. It has some incredible double back diamond runs with amazing views. In addition, it has great intermediate terrain as well as a bunny slope or two. This is another great budget-friendly resort.

Diamond Peak (9.5 miles / Opens December 15th) Perfect for families, this budget-friendly resort offers beginner-intermediate terrain with truly stunning lake views.  Diamond Peak is a smaller, customer service oriented resort, and offers a Child Ski Center for 3-7 year old kids.  Please inquire at our front desk to purchase their lift tickets.

Tahoe XC (5.5 miles) An alternative to downhill skiing, Tahoe XC has your cross country skiing needs met. Just a short drive from our property, this ski area has great terrain to keep you in shape and beautiful views to keep you coming back.

Lake Tahoe Snowmobile Tours (4.6 miles) Experience the thrill of snowmobiling while enjoying unobstructed views of Lake Tahoe from trails through the National Forest. Guided tours are available for morning and afternoon sessions.

Toccata Symphony Orchestra & Chorus: The 11th annual production of Handel’s Messiah will be performed at various locations around the lake throughout the month. Please check their event calendar for dates and time.

What an incredible summer we have had at Cedar Glen Lodge!  We are so grateful for such perfect weather, and so many wonderful guests to enjoy it with!  We’ve made a lot of new friends this summer, and hope that you will come experience the beauty of fall with us in North Lake Tahoe.

Sept. 4~Squaw Valley 28th Annual Alpen Wine Festival is a fun-filled, two-day festival which brings out some of the area’s most colorful and talented fine artists, craftsmen and performers. With daily wine tastings and plenty of entertainment it makes for a nice day in the valley for the whole family.

Sept. 4~4th Annual Fireworks Spectacular  at Gar Woods Grill and Pier!   Join the festivities on the deck as the folks at Gar Woods ring out the summer with their annual fireworks celebration!  What better way to round out a truly spectacular summer here on beautiful lake Tahoe?

Sept. 9-11~35th Anniversary Great Reno Balloon Race is the largest free hot air ballooning event in the world, and dazzles visitors and locals alike with its inspiring display of color in the sky!   Be sure to visit their website for all of the details.

Sept. 11~Tahoe Fall Classic Paddle Race is the longest inland paddle-board race in the world stretching across the 22-mile length of spectacular Lake Tahoe!  It’s quite the event for those who have a passion for paddling, one not to be missed as you get a chance to traverse this spectacular lake with fellow enthusiasts.

Sept. 18~The Great Lake Tahoe Bike Ride is a breathtaking ride around the circumference of the lake and is designed for the novice biker, so that anyone with the desire to give it a go is welcome!  If you have ever wanted to take a ride around one of the most picturesque lakes in the world, this is the ride for you! Sept. 18~Emerald Bay Trail Run is a 7.5 mile run on one of the most beautiful trails in the country, which winds around the stunning Emerald bay and into D.L Bliss State Park. A must for the runners out there who are looking for a fun challenge with extraordinary views!
